The Round Rock Police Department is investigating a car crash that killed a woman Friday night.
At 9:52 p.m. Friday, Round Rock police officers responded to a welfare issue in the 2200 block of Interstate 35 north, the department said in a news release. When officers arrived on scene, they located a person lying dead on the shoulder of the road. Officers determined that the person had injuries that were consistent with being struck by a car.
Officers identified the person as 31-year-old Jennifer Wingard.
Police officials said a driver who struck Wingard on the highway is cooperating with the investigation.
