Team Series Event 2 is clean and jerks ascending in load. At the call of “3, 2, 1 … go,” the female pair does 30 clean and jerks at 95 pounds. Each athlete must do five repetitions of the clean and jerk. Then slap hands with the male pair, who then perform 30 clean and jerks at 135 pounds. Record the time it takes you to complete each set of 30 reps. This will be used as a tiebreak. Athletes may change the plates to prepare for the next set while the other pair is lifting. Once the men finish, they slap hands with the women, who then perform 30 clean and jerks at 105 pounds. This sequence is repeated for as far as the team can make it in the 20-minute time cap. Each athlete must do five repetitions of the clean and jerk—no more, no less—before their partner is allowed to do five repetitions. The clean and jerk starts with the weight on the floor and finishes with the barbell fully locked out overhead with the arms, hips and legs extended and the bar over the center of the athlete’s body when viewed from profile. If the athlete fails to reach extension of the hip and knees before the weight is brought back down or dropped, that repetition will not count. If the athlete chooses to do a split-style jerk, both feet must return back under the athlete’s body, and the hips and knees must reach extension before the repetition will count. If the athlete does not lock out their arms at the top of the repetition, that rep will not count. If the athlete does not finish with the bar over the center of their body, those reps will not count. Athletes may start the workout with the barbell loaded and ready for the first set. Clips must be used. One barbell is permitted for the women and one barbell for the men. Be sure to video the barbells and all plates to be used. Scaled options are available for this event.
