CrossFit Team Series 2015: Event 8 Demo

Team Series Event 8 is 200 toes-to-bars and 200 shoulder-to-overheads for time. The men’s weight is 135 pounds and the women’s weight is 95 pounds. At the call of “3, 2, 1 … go,” the first athlete mounts the pull-up bar and begins performing toes-to-bars. In order for the repetitions to count, both barbells must be locked out overhead by other team members. At any time, only one athlete may be doing toes-to-bars. Team members may rotate in any order they choose but both barbells must be locked out overhead in order for the toes-to-bar repetitions to count. If a team member lowers the barbell, the toes-to-bar reps will not count. Upon completion of the 200th toes-to-bar, the athletes may begin their shoulder-to-overheads. At any time, only one athlete may be doing repetitions of shoulder-to-overhead. Athletes may perform the shoulder-to-overheads in any order they choose, however, for the reps to count, two other team members must be in a static hang from the pull-up bar. If an athlete stops doing the static hang, the shoulder-to-overhead reps will not count. Every repetition of the toes-to-bar starts with the athlete hanging at full extension and the heels behind the vertical plane that the pull-up bar creates. The repetition is counted when both feet touch the pull-up bar at the same time between the hands. As long as the feet make contact inside the hands, any grip is permitted. The athlete may make contact with any portion of the foot and the repetition will still count. If the feet do not make contact at the same time, that rep will not count. If the athlete does not start the repetition with their heels behind the bar, that’s a no rep. Each athlete must perform at least 25 of the toes-to-bars. Every repetition of the shoulder-to-overhead must have the bar begin in the front-rack position and finish fully locked out overhead. This means the arms, hips and legs are fully extended, and the bar is over the center of the athlete’s body when viewed from profile. If the athlete does not lock out their arms at the top of every repetition, those reps will not count. If the athlete does not finish with the bar over the center of their body, those reps will not count. If the athlete chooses to do a split-style jerk, both feet must return back under the athlete’s body, and the hips and knees must reach full extension before the repetition will count. Each athlete must perform at least 25 of the 200 shoulder-to-overheads. During the overhead barbell hold, the athletes must have the barbell fully locked out overhead. This means the arms, hips and legs are extended, and the bar is over the center of the athlete’s body when viewed from profile. Men must perform the overhead hold with the men’s weight and the women must use the women’s loading. Clips must be used. Two barbells are permitted. Barbell racks are not permitted. Scaled options are available for this event.
