Heaving Snatch Balance

A lot of us struggle with the pulling under the bar and the confidence and the skill of getting underneath the bar and that’s where the skill-transfer exercises really come into play there. And we’re going to do what we call a heaving snatch balance, it’s going to look like a push press into an overhead squat. So he’s going to dip, drive, press, and push himself into that receiving position. Let’s do one more. Dip, drive, press, launches it off his back, uses his arms to push down, he’s actively pulling with his hip flexors, pushing with his arms to get down into that receiving position. So, Coach Burgener’s going to have you guys shout out “fast arms” on this, it’s learning to use your arms in assisting getting under the bar— in the snatch that’s going to be a pull under, here it’s a push under.
