Partner Challenge – Rowing Machine Workout


Shane Farmer: Hi guys, Dark Horse Rowing,
we’re bring some more fun to you. This is another great partner challenge and
excellent way to challenge your friends and basically see who has better mental fortitude. It’s best to line up against somebody of about
equal caliber to yourself. We have our two competitors here, Tyler and
Ryan shake hands. Hey, let’s keep it civil gentlemen. This is going to be a 250 meter piece. I like to run this at a 250, 500, 750 and
1,000 and place a little bet on the line every time, like the number of burpees in the number
of meters that you row, so if you lose the 250 meter you have to do 25 burpees, if you
lost the 500 meter you have to do 50, 75 and 100. You wait until the very end to have to serve
your sentence for pieces lost. Here’s the deal, and this is where it gets
spicy and fun, is that you’re going to take the cable from the machine and you are going
to undo it and you’re going to connect it to your partner’s machine. Now excuse me a moment while I get this thing
ready. You’re going to connect it to your partner’s
machine and this is where the fun really happens, is that why this is such a great mental fortitude
workout is that now Ryan is going to see Tyler’s times and Tyler is going to see Ryan’s times. You don’t get to know what you’re doing, you
only get to see how well the other person is performing. Gentlemen are you ready? Ryan: Yes. Tyler: Yes. Shane Farmer: 250 meters on the screen, single
distance, 250. We have 250 meters on the screen over here. We lost our cable. Cables are connected. Ready? Ryan: Yeah. Shane Farmer: Ready? Tyler: Yeah. Shane Farmer: Grab your handle. Gentlemen, 250 meters. Keep in mind this is Tyler’s, this is Ryan’s. They can only see each other’s. Gentlemen, there, two, one, go. I think I have a prediction here. [inaudible 00:02:37] Tyler. [inaudible 00:02:42] Ryan [inaudible 00:02:45],
and time. Unfortunately Ryan won that one on a technicality,
the cable fell out. Make sure the cables stay connected. However, was that fun? Ryan: [inaudible 00:03:25]
Shane Farmer: It’s a bit of mind screw but that’s why it’s fun. Again guys this is all about having fun. Tyler: I felt like I was [inaudible 00:03:31]
the whole time. Shane Farmer: Go have some fun with your friends,
make up a workout, put something on the line, just go enjoy this machine. This is great for partners, this is great
for friends, especially if you’re starting out. It’s a wonderful way to enjoy the machine

  1. Blind Man's Bluff! A favorite at the USF Boathouse. We just turn the monitors down so they are visible to the opponent, just upside-down. Last year, I had the Varsity Men do an hour of power in this configuration.
