A 29-year-old woman is facing charges of aggravated arson after allegedly setting a fire at the Mentor Home Inn and Suites.

According to the city manager’s weekly memo to Mentor City Council, on Aug. 9, Doriyanni Slaughter of Iowa was arrested for first-degree felonious aggravated arson.

The day before, Slaughter allegedly set a pile of branches on fire outside of a room at the Mentor Home Inn and Suites, 8370 Broadmoor Road in the city. She had been involved in a domestic dispute in the room earlier in the day, the report stated.

The occupant extinguished the fire with water. There were minor burn marks on the door and façade of the motel room.

No one was injured, according to the memo.
